My Testimony

Let's start from the beginning of my journey, or at least as far back as this girl can remember.
I grew up in a typical middle-class family. Nothing special. That is what I thought anyways. As I grew older, I had come to realize that this was going to become part of my testimony to know Jesus Christ.
I lived in a house with my mother, step-father and two brothers. We lived a seemingly normal life, we went to school, we had friends, both of my parents worked. Fast forward to my teen/young adult years. I realized my parents had become alcoholics, I had no foundation of truth and I was running as wild as Donny off of the Wild Thornberrys (total 90s reference). I started under-age drinking, practicing witch-craft, spending time with boys in ways I should have ran the opposite way from. My life was spiraling in a way that scared every piece of me. I know I needed a change deep down, but I had no idea where to go.
I decided to join the United States Air Force, that was going to be my "get out of jail free card". Little did I know what path it would take me down. Fast forward another couple years and I meet an amazing man. Also, an Airman, who I meet in such an unsuspecting way (another story for another time). We fall in love, get married and have baby number one on the way within the year. I feel that nothing else could make this life any sweeter.
Until one day my husband, who is already saved at this point, asks me about what I believe when it comes to religion. I had never really given it much thought until then. Never grew up in church or have any religious foundation. No one had asked me up until then what I thought. It surprised me and I had told him just that. He proceeds to tell me about his testimony and about the gospels, I was still in shock. Then, the biggest question, I remember it like it was yesterday. He asked me if I wanted to know Jesus and something in me just crumbled. I was in tears yearning for this man I felt I knew nothing about. That day my husband led me to my salvation through Jesus Christ and I will forever be grateful for that day.
Up to this point I had no grasp on true love. 1 John 4:7-8 says "7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love". I came into my marriage under a pretense that was in actuality far from what we should have been for each other. This opened my eyes. In so many different ways, I repented every sin that I had committed and that I had felt in my heart. It was an immense weight off my chest.
I have now grown in my faith and have the ability to have a beautiful relationship with my Creator and my Saviour. 2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ". Every day I have the chance to live a life I never knew was intended for me, and I thank God every day for it.
God calls us all in different ways. I am allowed to homeschool my daughters and live a homestead life I could have only dreamed for. I live in a country that I can speak freely of what I believe.
